Abstract
In this paper we proposed the i-m-Top, an interactive multi-resolution tabletop system with rear- projection. The aim of the table is for a user to perform regular and
long-term works such as reading and writing documents or browsing and checking a large amount of information. So, the design of i-m-Top meets the following concerns: (1) a
controllable high-resolution perception of the tabletop display, (2) intuitive interaction and precise manipulation, (3) Comfort for long-term using, (4) Physical setup as furniture in our daily life. Because of the concerns, the multi-resolution display and interaction
are adopted to help the user do various tasks.
We will articulate the system architecture and methods for display and interaction of i-m-Top and how the system, i-m-Top, achieves the concerns mentioned above. There are two applications implemented in i-m-Top. The first One is for the user to do his or her daily tasks manipulating the digital documents. The other one is a user interface for
video retrieval. We will introduce how the applications are benefited by i-m-Top, and the detail of the content, layout, and interaction will be discussed.
