Abstract
The Conference on Air Quality and Climate, held in Waikoloa, HI, March 14-19, 2011, explored air quality climate relationships for countries around the Pacific Rim. The topics discussed six areas related to climate and air quality interactions such as technological outlook for Asian energy production and use, weather and precipitation modification, air quality and megacities, multipollutant air quality management, and regional pollution and long-range pollutant transport. The delegates envisioned a comprehensive program to facilitate the development of long-term multinational cooperative research. It was found that a science-based approach to policy-making involves the development and application of integrated assessment models, which link emissions to ambient concentrations, exposures, and effects while assessing co-benefits.
