Abstract
This study emphasizes establishing the capacity spectrum of a structure using by pushover analysis. We use the SAP2000 nonlinear version to execute pushover analysis.
We consider the shear failure of beam-column joint, and add the joint deformation into M3 hinge. Then put the M3 hinge in the beam to simulate the shear deformation of beam-column joint and the deformation of beam.
We find six category failure of the interaction between joint and beam. The plastic rotation value is the suggestion of FEMA-273. We develop the method to setting M3 hinge.
To demonstrate the process above, we evaluate seismic capacity of a building. Engineers can apply this method on other kinds of structures as well.
