Abstract
This study uses finite element tire model to estimate wet grip index and discuss the influence of driving conditions and structural design parameters on wet grip performance. Based on the results, high wet grip performance tire designs are proposed. This study creates finite element model for the 205/55 R16 radial tire by the finite element software Abaqus. In order to calculate grip force on brake, the tire model refer to ISO-23671 of tire’s wet grip test regulation that is established a wet grip analysis procedure. The result is identical with the experiment, and it shows that the Finite Element model in this study is reasonable. Then the tire model is used to discuss the influence of driving conditions and structural design parameters on grip force, such as load, inflation pressure, driving velocity, viscoelasticity, tread pattern, etc. According to the result of wet grip analysis tools, we can give suggestions on it.
