Abstract
Nature hazards and landslides in
Taiwan are closely related with the Nature of
Hillslope Materials such as: 1. Properties of
Soil, 2. the special nature of the bedrocks
(generally uncemented and broken) and 3.
Complex geological conditions ( high relief
with unstable slopes, both compressional and
extensional tectonism, fault zone etc.) of Taiwan. Coupled with special climatic
condition (frequent typhoon, heavy rainfall,
and frequent earthquacks etc.), the complex
and unique geological condition causes innate disasters in Taiwan. The purpose of this project is, therefore,
to try to recognize and to try to classify the types of nature hazards and landslides in
Taiwan.
