Abstract
Allotment garden has agricultural and
recreational functions. Besides, it also has
many social benefits such as urban planning,
ecology and environmental education. Manage
of allotment garden is successful or frustrated
affects not only visitor’s site choice behavior
but also farmers’ economics profitability. This
study developed a conjoint model to forecast
users’ preferences for allotment garden and to
compare relative importance of allotment
garden attributes that may influence visitors’
choice behavior. Eighteen combinations of
seven site attributes were simulated. The
conjoint choice model was estimated for the
preference ranking data. The results showed
that the most important attribute is entry fees,
and next in order are whether it provides
opportunities for environmental education,
public service, outdoor recreation, farming,
and provides meal service or not. The less
important attribute is whether it sells farmers’
agricultural products.
