Abstract
The purpose of this study is to investigate and analyze the influences of motorcycle parameters and driving conditions on the stability of motorcycle while in the steady state cornering. The motorcycle cornering model has been developed. By using this model, the steady state behavior of motorcycle can be determined and the stability of motorcycle can be analyzed. Cooperate with the parameter estimating method and computer numerical simulation, the influences of the variations of design parameters, lateral displacement of rider, the passenger, and the inclination of road surface on the stability of motorcycle while cornering are discussed. The stability analysis of existing various motorcycle, electric motorcycles and the hybrid motorcycles are also presented and discussed. In this study the influence of variations of different parameters on the stability of motorcycle are analyzed and summarized. The results can be useful for practical motorcycle design.
