Abstract
Feitsui Reservoir is a main source of the public water in Taipei since completing in 1987. Feitsui Reservoir Administration Bureau established a long-term water quality monitoring since 1988. It also started to monitor the fish and plankton, however, discontinuous monitoring investigation of the fish can not provide effective background data for biomanipulation. This research purpose is to probe into the relation that fish feeding habits change and water quality change, offering the Feitsui Reservoir Administration for biomanipulation management of water quality as the sustainable management of reference materials.
This research investigates fish feeding habits and zooplankton concentration in the Feitsui Reservoir, probe into it from 2006.6~2010.3, total 15 times aquatics survey. Recording zooplankton and algae in the distribution of time and space, and then analysis fish of dominant species in reservoir water quality with changes in feeding habits. We discuss the relation between the variations of fish feeding habits in different water quality with analyzing the correlation, including the total phosphorus, chlorophyll-a, transparency and alga, etc.
The results shows that protozoa in the percentage of zooplankton increases proportionally with the water temperature. The percentage of its number and water temperature of the linear regression R2 is 0.51. From 2006 to 2009 the monthly average water temperature and monthly average number of algae correlation R2 is 0.61. Aristichthys nobili and Carassius cuvieri promotes phytoplanktivorous rate when water temperature increases, the phytoplanktivorous rate and water temperature of the linear regression R2 is 0.69 and 0.64. Aristichthys nobili and Carassius cuvieri can improve water transparency and algal concentration.
This research investigation shows that do not capture Aristichthys nobili and Carassius cuvieri when the summer and autumn in Feitsui Reservoir, in order to inhibit the growth of algae. We propose that the monitoring of variation in the condition of fish fauna should be carry out continually, and establish the continuous, correlative information between fish and water quality.
