Abstract
This paper presents the implementation of multi-beam antenna for the effective coverage of RFID in the near-zone. The 2-D planar antenna array may radiate focused energy along the vertical dimension while in the meantime providing multiple focused spots along the horizontal dimensions for multiple coverages or switching the coverage in terms of time-sharing. Two systems have been implemented and presented in this paper to demonstrate their characteristics.
