Abstract
The relationship between pop culture and avant-garde movement is extremely complicated. If
the avant-garde movement is seen as a revolt against the “bourgeois,” then popular culture can be
perceived as an ally for the avant-garde. The avant-garde seeks, throughout its history, to
combine art with the life we live—an ideal that pop culture has already achieved, yet the two has
drastic differences in many ways. What then was the relationship between pop and avant-garde?
And how should they interact with on another? This study proposes to discuss their relationship
through art creation and efficiency.
