Abstract
Miniaturization of a slot antenna capacitively fed by a CPW using a pair of interdigital capacitors (IDCs) close to the CPW feed line is presented. Instead of using the common reactive elements as the terminations for the slot radiator, the proposed structure possesses the advantages of ease of fabrication, no need of truncation while remaining compact in both the longitudinal and transverse dimensions of the slot radiator. The slot radiator of the 2.43-GHz prototype antenna measures only 0.102λ 0 × 0.028λ 0 , and the entire ground plane occupies a small area of 0.13λ 0 × 0.243λ 0 .
