Abstract
Maokong Gondola has been viewed as an important resource and new image to reconstruct tourism development in Maokong area, since it operated in July, 2007. The aim of this research is to investigate recreation experience and recreation satisfaction of tourists, and to explore whether the Gondola creates a tourism attraction or not, and to analysis the different recreation satisfactions between different tourists. Finally, the results of this study can be a managerial planning reference for Maokong Gondola system. The research used questionnaire survey, and a total number of 354 valid questionnaires were collected through face-to-face survey from tourists. he investigation results show that: (1) most of the tourists come to experience the Maokong Gondola, and Gondola is viewed as a tourism attraction. (2) tourists satisfy with the Gondola, but importance-satisfaction analysis indicates that some aspects need improvement, especially on “waiting time” and “the temperature of cable car” (3) tourists’ attributes have a significant influence on satisfaction through one-way ANOVA. (4) tourists’ whole satisfaction is significantly and positively correlated to revisiting willingness and recommendation. According to the following results, this study proposes some suggestions: (1) plan an efficient strategy for waiting line. (2) improve the connection between Gondola system and public transportation, provide abundant information and specific travel trip for tourists. (3) combine with tourism resource intensely to reveal the special culture development in Maokong. (4) develop well explanation and guidance system to give tourists a high quality and satisfied recreation experience.
