Abstract
Kidney failure is one of the leading causes of death anddisability in humans. Currently, no effective treatments canrestore lost renal function after kidney damage in theclinic. An increasing number of studies have provided evi-dence that cell transplantation can lead to the repair ofdamaged kidney tissue and functional recovery in preclin-ical kidney models, including transplantation of bonemarrow-derived cells (BMDCs), mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs), and embryonic stem (ES) cells.
