Abstract
This paper presents a compact D-band composite right/left-handed (CRLH) substrate-integrated waveguide (SIW) slot antenna implemented in glass-based integrated passive device (IPD) technology. Leveraging a hot via structure, the design spatially separates the feed pads from the radiation aperture, minimizing probe interference and enabling accurate on-wafer characterization. The unit-cell version demonstrates a measured fractional bandwidth of 18.87% from 120 to 145 GHz with broadside radiation. Multi-cell cascaded configurations are also investigated. The proposed design highlights the potential of metamaterial (MTM)-SIW antennas in glass IPD for compact, high-frequency antenna-in-package (AiP) applications in future sub-THz systems.
