Abstract
Interactions of [PPh4]2[OsO2Cl4] and [Bun4N][OsNCl4] with Li2L [H2L = 1,2-bis(p-toluenesulphonylamide)benzene] gave binuclear osmium(IV) compounds (PPh4)2[Os2O4L2(μ-OH)2] (1) and Os2N2L2(μ-OH)2 (2), respectively. The structures of both compounds have been determined by X-ray crystallography. The crystal structure of the [Os2O4L2(μ-OH)2]2- anion contains two trans-OsO2(L) units bridged by two OH groups: the OsO(oxo) bond length is ca 1.74 Å. The crystal structure of 2 contains two OsN(L) units bridged by two OH groups; the OsN(nitrido) bond length is ca 1.56 Å. © 1993.
