Abstract
Simulation results using the Monte Carlo method to evaluate the MRI signal loss due to intravascular susceptibility difference under different capillary structures are presented in this report. These data reveal a simplified periodic structure which is a good approximation to the complicated random structure when the diffusion constant of water is larger than 10/sup -9/ m/sup 2//sec for gradient echo and 2/spl times/10/sup -9/ m/sup 2//sec for spin echo at a typical cerebral blood volume fraction (f=5%).>
