Abstract
“Japanese Language Proficiency Test” is regarded as an index of
Japanese language ability that is similar to the English test, TOFEL, in Taiwan. The importance of Japanese Language Proficiency Test can be proved by 30,000 registered
examinees each year, including Japanese majors in universities, or Business Japanese
majors in vocational schools.
In addition, the major subjects of Two and Four Years Vocational Colleges Entrance
Examination, such as “Japanese Grammar and Vocabulary” “Japanese Reading and
Writing” “Japanese Reading Proficiency Test” and “Japanese Translation and
Writing” are all based on Japanese Language Proficiency Test.
This research contains three sections. The first section is the analysis
of grammar tests in the First and Second Level proficiency test from 1991 to 2000.
Based on the results of the analysis, the second section is the discussion of the gap
between the results and the “test standard”. The final section, according to the
findings from the second section, will examine the textbooks from Chinese Culture
University, Tamkang University, Soochow University, FuJen University, National Taiwan
University, National Chenchi University, Tunghai University, Providence University,
Ming Chuan University, National Kaohsiung First University of Science and Technology.
Further suggestions will be provided to Japanese language research and teaching.
