Abstract
This study, exploiting CMS model, analyzes the export competitiveness of Myanmar''s logs from the year 2002 to the year 2013 in Taiwan with the 11 countries as the study object. The research data was obtained from the database of Council of Agriculture, Executive Yuan according to which logs, in this study, are classified as [4010101 conifer log] and [4010101 broadleaf log] in the study. The finding indicates that export competitiveness of Myanmar’s logs in Taiwan market mainly resulted from pure residual, static structural residual and dynamic structural residual of the CMS model, with pure residual being the most significant. Due to illegal logs exportation being so common in Myanmar, which is one of the main reasons of promoting Myanmar’s logs exports growth and illegally logging resulted in a substantial decline in the rate of forest coverage in Myanmar. Myanmar government, in light of this, should promptly enact some effective response measures to ensure the sustainable development of forestry industry in Myanmar.
