Abstract
Street Light System is essential for a modern country. Street light surveillance was manipulated by manpower in the past, but with the development of wireless networks, establishing a Street Light System with a wireless surveillance network becomes a better and feasible scheme. Surveillance by wireless network is able to make instant reactions never achieved by manpower only, reduce manpower cost, and promote system performance. Zigbee is a short-distance, low-rate, and muti-hop wireless communication protocol. Among existing wireless network protocols, it is the most suitable to build up a Street Light Surveillance System. However, today the performance of Zigbee’s routinge policy is not good enough. This thesis proposes Enhanced ZigBee Routing (EZR) based on CGSR’s and EHRP’s methodologies to replace the common AODV Zigbee routinge. The results of NS2 simulation shows that the system performance indices, such as packet end-to-end delay, packet delivery ratio, and broadcast overhead ratio, are totally apparently improved.
