Abstract
The writers refuse to answer the arguments addressed by the discusser. We reiterate what was already said in the paper under discussion: "It is now left to the geospatial engineering community to judge the substance of the two approaches and decide which method is better reinforced by the fundamental principles of theoretical rigor and thoroughness." The task is not as complicated as it seems. It all boils down to deciding which of the two equations presented [Eqs. (9) and (10) in the discussed paper] is the correct one to determine local accuracies as originally defined in Geomatics Canada (1996). Should Eq. (9), proven rigorously by the writers and identical to the Canadian version, or should Eq. (10), proposed by the discusser which unless mathematically demonstrated otherwise is presumed to be an intuitive approximation, be the formulation enforced to compute local accuracies? This is the key conundrum to be clarified.
