Abstract
Most recent studies on sintered heat pipe
have been focused on the heat transfer and heat
dissipation. Little has been reported on the
effects of powder characteristics and processing
parameters. In general, large pores provide high
permeability but with low capillarity and vice
versa. The objective of this study was thus to
understand the effect of pore characteristics on
the permeability when different powders and
different compacting pressures and sintering
temperatures were employed. Results show that
dendritic powders, when pressed at low
pressures and sintered at high temperatures,
give the best performance.
