Abstract
This thesis focuses on the phase transformation temperature of Ti50Ni50 shape memory alloy membrane. We used four kinds of experiments, including four-point probe resistivity measurement, deflection and shape recovery of the membrane, differential scanning calorimetry, the measurement of Young’s Modulus, to compare the phase transformation temperature. For four-point probe resistivity measurement experiment, We can observe the change in electrical resistivity at phase transformation temperature; For deflection and shape recovery experiment, deflection increased after cooling the temperature below martensite commencement temperature, Ms , and then reached saturation at the termination of martensitic transformation temperature, Mf . Shape recovery occurred after heating to the temperature above the temperature of commencement of reverse transformation, Af , and reached saturation at the termination of reverse transformation temperature, Af ; DSC curve shows hysteresis loop at phase transformation temperature; Young’s Modulus changes after phase transformation temperature.
We measured As, Af, Ms, Mf from four kinds of experiments and got similar results. Four different experiments have their own advantages. So, to get better result of phase transformation temperature, it is recommended to compare with more result from different experiments.
