Abstract
This paper presents an approach to pattern synthesis based on the difference coarray of minimum hole arrays (MHAs), based on the relations between the weights on the physical array and the virtual weights on the difference coarray. From these relations, some virtual weights are selected as design variables. The remaining virtual weights and the weights on the physical array are then determined by these design variables. Numerical examples show that, if these design variables are samples of a Kaiser window, the proposed approach can achieve smaller beamwidth or lower sidelobe levels than some existing weight designs for the MHA. ? 2021 IEICE.
