Abstract
The effects of the road on the ecosystem are complecated. Facts include: the change of topography, landform, hydrological flow, the composition of air and soil, salts, noise, light environment, temperature, and moisture. We can speculate the change of the roadside with present vegetation and historical records. The purpose of this study is realizing the change of the roadside vegetation along Nation Expressway NO.3. I compare the survey data during 1992-1993, and field observation during 2005/7-2005/11 to analysis the change of vegetation after highway constructed
The result of this study shows that the change of the roadside vegetation is affected by climate and timing of road usage. The composition of vegetation resembles more to the original vegetation composition with lesser conditions of water deficiency and earlier timing of road usage. The environment is already changed by human with new disturbances that came along with the expressway. Will the succession of roadside vegetation go back or reach to new composition? It needs more investigation to answer this question.
