Abstract
Abstract
There are plenty of colors in the world and the devices which record, transmit, or re-display color images, have taken important parts in human life. As the development of technology, people desire to gain more accurate colors for image recording and image reconstruction regardless of the exceptional complex behavior of human perception. Thus, there comes the technique of Multi-spectral Imaging, which aims to accurately acquire or describe color information of objects under arbitrary illuminants. It’s this technique that makes great progress in color acquisition, re-display, transmission, and even in printing industry possible.
In this thesis, we have introduced the initial motivation and the principles of Multi-spectral Imaging technique and the researches that have been done by others until now. In addition to simulate the algorithms maintained in the past, we also proposed some ideas about the related research topics, such as object classification and image compression. By verifying these ideas and analyzing the research results on hand, we will draw a conclusion of the possible difficulties that was met now along with the possible future works in this new filed.
This thesis consists of five chapters. A general introduction is made in chapter 1. Then the concept of color, the formation of human vision and the digital image devices are described in chapter 2. In chapter 3, the concept, applications and related works in Multi-spectral Imaging will be summarized and some of our simulated results will be given too. The experiments on multi-spectral imaging, its related topics and their simulation results are present in chapter 4. Finally, a concluding remark and future research directions will be given in chapter 5.
