Abstract
As a result of the fast economic growth in China, the trend of Taiwanese labors working there is more and more prevailing. In order to know what the determinant factors of the phenomenon are, this article tried to do some discussion about this.
I took “the job markets of Taiwan and China” as the main explaining variables in this research. For the dependent variables” the opportunities of Taiwanese labors working in China” and “ the willingness of Taiwanese labors working in China “ are qualitative variables, so I adopted Bivariate Probit Model and Two-Stage Probit Model to analyze the topic . And the database is available from “2002 Workers’ Living and Employment Condition Survey “of Taiwan Government.
The empirical evidences show that:(1) The situation of the job market in Taiwan is the main “push force“.(2) The individual and family characteristics of Taiwanese labors, such as sex, education, marriage status, are also the important factors to this topic.(3) The opportunities and willingness of Taiwanese labors working in China are in positive correlation.
