Abstract
Abstract The possibility of using a costas loop for the carrier regeneration in tamed frequency modulation (TFM) signal is investigated. By first setting up all important phase changing rules and suitably classifying the various possible phase paths, the equivalent phase detector characteristics (for TFM signal input) of the four phase costas loop are derived. Performance degradation, when compared with the same loop for QPSK. signal input, is also pointed out and discussed.
