Abstract
Carbon nanotube forest is used to brush brass in this thesis. We bonded carbon nanotube on stainless steel wheel with adhesive, like a wirebrush . The brass is pre-manufactured by single crystal diamond before brushing experiment, then the surface roughness of brass is down below 30 nm. The experiment factors of feed amount、brushing speed and brushing time is controlled in this thesis.
The morphology of carbon nanotube forest was observed by scanning electron microscopy(SEM), and the copper element on carbon nanotube forest was detected by EDX. The top surface of carbon nanotube forest bended along brusing direction. The surface morphology of brass after brushing was observed by optical microscopy ,and the surface roughness of brass is measured by Taylor Hubson Form Talysurf. The tiny holes on brass surface were removed obviously. The brass surface brushed by cabon nanotube forest became more smooth, the surface roughness is deceased in the range of 1~2 nm.
