Abstract
Sustainable community development con notes “thinking globally, acting
locally”. In the perspective, communities are the local units responding global as the
social transformation mechanism. In the mean time, organizations for community
recreation and leisure are viewed as change agents. The research explored and
compared two alternative perspectives of community development, including
modernization and reflexive modernization. Secondly, the research explored the
meanings and principles of sustainable community development and its relationship
with reflexive modernization perspective of community development. Lastly, we did
a case study about the development experience of community recreation and leisure
organization for theory understanding empirically.
