Abstract
This paper presents two novel waveguide-to-microstrip line transition structures based on a bow-tie antenna, designed for high-frequency applications on cost-effective printed circuit boards (PCBs). The first structure is a waveguide to coupled microstrip line transition that achieves a continuous operational bandwidth covering the entire D-band (110-170 GHz), with a single insertion loss below 0.5 dB and a return loss better than 10 dB. The second structure employs a pair of baluns to convert the coupled microstrip lien to a single microstrip line, providing a 50 GHz bandwidth (110-160 GHz) while maintaining the same loss standard. The results validate the effectiveness of these designs, offering promising low-cost solutions for high-frequency applications.
