Abstract
It is Ninth session events of "Road of Xuanzang international EMBA Gobi challenge game" held in this year. With explosion increasing of entries of colleges, teams and participate in number being observed, Asian Chinese administration college EMBA students were deeply attracted by this event. And this event became a stage of show of the famous Universities in Asia as well. NTU EMBA entered the competition four times. Four challenge teams of different composition, different resources, and varied leadership involvement and attitudes, they were impacted on team performance. This is an issue what should be studied. Hope that through this research, the critical success factors can be found, even in the enterprise organization management, interaction of organization and individual members. The successful models of managerial implications also can be established. Through case study method, this research analyze the Gobi challenge teams through management theory on it, by five frames for analysis, such as organization and human resources, strategy and direction, leadership and members consensus, operating and competition advantages. The purpose is to explore: (1) effects of team composition of members background and way of team forming on collective effectiveness; (2) effects of team leader on team performance; (3) effects of resources obtained of team on team performance; and (4) team competition strategy. Study adopted survey methods, data analysis on a team basis. Research results revealed that: (i) team members background is unlikely to effect the team performance; (ii) professional support and training has significant effects on team performance; (iii) transforming leadership, team discipline and features has larger effects on team performance; (iv) strategy differences has significant effects on team performance; (v) the way of team member recruitment has obvious effects on collective effectiveness. At last, this research conducts a result for a comprehensive discussion. And to the result, the research reveals possible limitations of study, the recommended studies, and practical application in study for the future.
