Abstract
The performance of two devices, including a TFT with a OLED on top and a TFT with a a-Si:H solar cell on top, were studied in the thesis. Solar cell was introduced between thin film transistor (TFT) and organic light emitting diode (OLED) to solve the contrast problem. Through the new design, both the sun light and the emitted light from OLED can be absorbed by the solar cell to achieve the energy-recoverable OLED. OLED driven by a TFT in two different operation modes will be studied. The low temperature a-SiNx films between solar cell and organic light emitting diode as insulator will be discussed. Finally, the energy-recoverable OLED consisting of three devices has been fabricated successfully. The conversion efficiency of the energy-recoverable OLED under the emitted light from OLED and under the sun light are 1.96 % and 2.77 %, respectively.
