Abstract
In this study , the combustion phenomena in the micro-combustor with catalytic wall are investigated numerically . For simplicity, in the numerical simulation the micro-combustor is modeled as a circular tube with infinitesimal wall . Adiabatic or isothermal wall condition is assumed and a simplified one-step chemical mechanism is employed to model the wall catalytic reaction . In the study , not only the effects on the catalytic combustion of mixture inlet-flow condition and wall temperature are investigated , the effects of scale of combustor are also studied . The calculated results show that the adiabatic-wall combustor with pre-heat inlet mixture has higher fuel burning rate and hence needs shorter tube-length .
