Abstract
Mist cooling of two heated areas was
studied under natural and forced convection.
Array of water droplets was generated by a
thermal bubble jet printer head. Transient
temperatures were recorded by a data acquisition
system to deduce heat transfer coefficients.
Water droplets discharged vertically
at various heights in natural convection.
Results indicate that mist cooling can enhance
heat transfer rate 1.4 to 6.8 times over
pure natural convection. Forced convection
was tested in a low-speed, mini wind tunnel.
Mist cooling increases heat transfer coefficient
by 1.28 to 11.7 times.
