Abstract
The purpose of this study was to develop a method which allows practitioners to quickly evaluate economic benefits and benefit-cost ratio of soil and water conservation engineering projects after they were constructed. We used actual data which includes costs of engineering projects and drills, numbers of disaster events, costs to repair damaged buildings, loss from damaged automobile, road, and casualties in calculations. The engineering projects from 2006 to 2019 of nine villages in Gaoping River Basin in Southern Taiwan were analyzed. The result showed that the range of benefit-cost ratios of each village was 1.08 to 2.41 which indicated that the engineering projects analyzed were effective based on this method. ? 2021, Chinese Institute of Civil and Hydraulic Engineering.
