Abstract
Based on the comprehensive analysis of Taiwan community building stage of development, content and mechanisms, system guarantee and facing difficulties, from the perspective of planning content, planning purposes and planning mechanisms, the direction of the development of community planning in Mainland China is proposed: the goal of community planning should be sustainable development of the community instead of limiting to the space construction; the primary task of community planning is to cultivate inhabitant's feelings of community and to establish of neighborhood identity; community planning must take a top-down and bottom-up partnership mode that combines the public and the private, in order to establish the partnerships of government, non-governmental organizations and community.
