Abstract
Norbornadiene possess two non-conjugated double bonds, the π orbitals overlaping through space. In the excited state, an electron is delocalized between these two double bonds. Based on the properties of norbornadiene, we have synthesized a dye carrying a non-conjugated spacer for DSSC application. The components of designed dye include an accepter, a spacer and a donor, with a 3,6-bis(2’-pyridyl)pyridazine skeleton to chelate a varity of metals. Subsequently, we have applied the dye on DSSC device fabrication. Regarding the performance of the cell, the solar energy to electricity conversion efficiency (η) is 0.14% [Voc 4.8 V, Isc 0.47 (mA/cm2), fill factor 0.62].
