Abstract
In order to let service provider obtain best solution to “last mile” problem, and utilizing the facility of wireless communication, only one transceiver for IEEE 802.16 subscriber station is needed to be set up in each building. All users in the building just co-operate with wireless network card, and then they can enjoy the convenience of broadband wireless access without setting up ADSL or cable modem.
The thesis inherit and modify the original C code for IEEE 802.16a OFDM mode subscriber station transceiver, and design a baseband transceiver for IEEE 802.16-2004 OFDM mode subscriber station. Transmitter and baseband channel model are written by C code. Receiver is re-written to fixed-point C code and then transferred to Verilog code. Algorithms and hardware implementation for timing and frequency synchronization, carrier frequency offset(CFO), sampling clock offset(SCO), guard interval length detection as well as channel estimation and updating are embedded in the receiver. Besides, several circuits for hardware implementation are also compared and discussed. The most suitable architecture will be adopted in the thesis.
Finally, the simulation results under different channel model shows that the proposed receiver can combat multi-path Rayleigh fading, CFO and SCO effect, and recover the data successfully.
