Abstract
The rising and falling time of amplified picosecond optical pulses by the semiconductor optical amplifiers (SOA) was investigated numerically. Results showed that with the increase of the bias current of SOAs or the length of SOAs, the rising time decreased and the falling time increased. An input pulse with large peak power was also found to accelerate the rising time shortening and falling time lengthening.
