Abstract
A thorough and facile separation of polar phenolic alkaloids from Lauraceous plants was achieved by application of centrifugal partition chromatography using CHCl3-MeOH-H2O (containing 0-1% HOAc) (2:2:1 or 5:5:3) as the delivery system, and subsequently in combination with conventional methods. This method solves the problems of low resolution and poor recovery in the application of general adsorption chromatography to the separation of polar phenolic alkaloids. The most polar alkaloid, laurolitsine, was isolated easily and several additional alkaloids were obtained from the investigation or reinvestigation of three Lauraceous plants. © 1994.
