Abstract
Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) resulted from
trauma or other lesion will cause the paralysis
or paresis of extremities and trunk of patients,
whose motor function and independence are
impaired according to its level and severity.
Neural prosthesis could restore the motor
function of SCI patients with the controlled
electrical neuromuscular stimulation and be
thought as a useful rehabilitation utility in
developed countries. We believe that the
neural prosthesis is valuable for the
restoration of motor function and
independence of SCI patients, the reduction
of cost of medical care, and creation of
high-tech medical industries in Taiwan.
This researching program with five
projects has achieved the desired goals.
