Abstract
In digital times, the idea of lighting design has drastically changed due to the advance of computerized software and lighting communication system. As the skill of digitalization becomes essential for a modern theatrical designer, it is a necessity to fully present the lighting design with the simulation of both taking control of the lighting system and lighting renderings in virtual reality, which is also a significant medium in interactive visual communication.
In the age of electricity, the technology of lighting control changed the rhythm of a performance and its form. In digital times, the technology of virtual reality has been involved. It combines the computer-aided design drawing in the lighting design process with digital visual simulation and control to ultimately demonstrate the lighting design ideas. The lighting design for the production of “East & West – Mix & Match” integrates control, communication, software and creativity to achieve the conveyance of ideas with not only words but also lighting looks composed of renderings and pre-written cues with visual simulation in real time.
