Abstract
With the gradual liberalization of the banking industry in China, the private owned banks are emerging together. The scale of the private owned banks are rapid development in recent years. Internal management and the business model of privates owned banks have played a key role in forming specialization and differencing competitive advantage. China Minsheng Bank, funded from 1996, has become to the sixth largest commercial bank in China. The particular business model makes it become to one of the most successful banks.
This research has be organized in the following ways. First, to fully understand banking market in China, this study introduced the current status of banking industry in China, especially the development of history, industry structure and competitive structure.
Second, I summarized the definition of private owned bank, common business sector, and a series of other business policies. SWOT analysis tool is used to analyzed private owned bank’s external environment, market status and identify the possible development path in future.
Finally, based on the case of China Mingsheng Bank, this study is to investigate the path of reformation and business models. More specifically, PEST and SWOT are used to analysis how Minsheng bank found the right development path in the hyper-competition of four state owned bands and dozens of state-owned joint-stock banks. This study is emphasis on the analysis the core strategies of business divisions reformation, small pond raising big fish strategy, small micro-enterprise loans, etc.,
The contribution of this study is to help managers to understand the Minsheng Bank''s successful business model and business strategy. It is also has some reference to other private banks.
