Abstract
All thumb amputations, even in the presence of avulsion, should be evaluated for replantation in the operating room. A high success rate can be achieved through meticulous repair transfer of neurovascular bundles and tendons, and vein grafts. For coverage, use skin grafts, local flaps, or even free flaps when necessary. Various backup procedures can be applied to achieve good functional restoration of the thumb.
