Abstract
The log-periodic dipole antenna is a linearly polarized frequency independent antenna of moderate gain. In this thesis, we describe the design of the printed planar log periodic dipole antenna. The feeding technique of this antenna is different from the tradition log periodic dipole antenna. It utilizes stripline geometry transmit energy to the small end of the antenna and excites a differential signal to feed dipole array.
In this thesis, we use coplanar waveguide geometry to transfer this printed planar log periodic dipole antenna. We design the antenna with average gain around 6dBi, cross-polarization isolation around 15dB, and front-to-back ratio around 15dB in 1.7-11GHz bands. We manufacture the PCB actually and measure the antenna performances to compare with the results of simulation.
