Abstract
In this study, the process of design, analysis and fabrication for the envelope mold of the solar vehicle was explored to produce a mold with high accuracy, low cost, large size, and quick production by vacuum forming at 150℃. At the beginning, the manufacturing process was decided according to past experience. The wooden core and the polymer cavity reinforced by glass fiber were produced consequently. After above, the sandwich structured shell of composite materials for the solar vehicle was successfully achieved. 80Although the size of final product has slightly deviations result from the putty, the process is economical of time and cost more than fifty percent.
