Abstract
Due to the growth of economics and population, urbanization in Taiwan area is
significant. The urban storm sewer systems usually cannot meet the demand and hence
urban flood inundation is often encountered. Therefore, the research on urban storm
sewer hydraulics is rather important. The objective of this study is to combine the
two-dimensional inundation model with the storm water management model (SWMM).
Then, the combined model is applied to simulate the urban inundation under the
condition if the damage of the storm sewer systems happens. The study area is the
Yung-Ho area located in the Taipei County. The urban flood inundation in the study
area during for the event of Herb typhoon is simulated. The simulated result is
compared with the measured flood inundation region. Application of the combined
model to Yung-Ho area has shown that the simulated result agrees well with the
measured.
