Abstract
Telecommunication is a transportation system for information interaction, it overcomes the spatial frictions between two parties. Facing to the so-called C & C Computer and Communication age, information has become more and more important in our activities. Identifying potential spatial impacts of telecommunication is crucial to planner's concern. Telecommunication is a new technology, its impacts on travel behavior, choice of activity location and spatial structure are very complicated and difficult to forecast. There is no conclusion whether telecommunication will induce the activity spatial distribution more decentralized or centralized. To identify the potential impacts, understanding of the telecommunication supply, usage and related government interventions are required, The purpose of this paper is to discuss the potential impacts on activity spatial distribution based on the relationship between telecommunications and choices of activity location. Besides, some recommendations to our urban development policy are proposed.
