Abstract
More and more simulation tools are created to provide more accurate and fast assistance for engineers. The most common way to improve simulation tools is to compare results from simulation tools with actual measurement data or to compare results between different simulation tools for verifying the accurate of simulation tools. As a result, actual measurement data, results from simulation tools, as well as digital models used in the simulation are important elements in improving simulation tools. Although researchers have increasing demands on measurement data, simulation results and models, they have limited channels to exchange the information they need and usually share research outcomes through journal publication which takes time to be reviewed and published. Moreover, journal papers usually do not contain detailed measurement data, simulation results and models, thus the research outcomes cannot be fully reused and value-added. The purpose of this research is to design a social network platform on which researchers can share actual measurement data, simulation results and models to other researchers in civil engineering field. The platform designed in this work allows not only sharing and discussion of actual measurement data, simulation results, and models among researchers but also active and automatic delivery of relevant information to researchers. Because there are a variety of simulation tools in the civil engineering field, the present design of the social network platform focuses on the researchers in the field of building energy simulation as a starting point and the interoperability of the energy simulation tools is addressed. Through increasing the opportunities of sharing and reuse of the actual measurement data, simulation results, and models, the social network platform hopes to increase the added values of these research outcomes and promote collaboration among researchers with common interests.
