Abstract
Filters are crucial components in modern wireless communication systems. A filter with compact size, low loss, high selectivity, high quality factor and low cost is especially our goal.
In this thesis, different kind of filters including lowpass, bandpass and dual band filters are designed and implemented using coplanar waveguide (CPW) structure. These structures are also measured to verify the theory discussed in this thesis. Two approaches are used here: 1.Using Genetic Algorithm (GA) to choose proper CPW elements which are placed in series to achieve the desired filter response. 2. Design of ribbon of brick wall bandpass filter. Using full wave simulated results to model CPW coupled transmission lines and discontinuities. Then Genetic Algorithm is used to get optimal value of coupled CPW transmission line lengths, and discontinuities to meet specifications.
